About the Program
La Bella Italia is calling you for this magnificent photography experience through the gorgeous hillsides of Tuscany and Central Italy. Private tours of family-run wineries, historic villages with bustling street life and twilight dinners at rustic villas will set the scene for your images to shine. This exciting documentary travel workshop will teach you how to take beautiful travel photographs in a stress-free, fun-filled environment.
We will begin our journey in Rome and travel throughout Assisi, Perugia, Siena and Florence during our week together. While there are plenty of places to see, we do not believe in rushing you through the sites. Instead our itineracy allows for personal time to explore and photograph at your leisure.
As we explore the sun drenched fields of Tuscany, our award-winning staff will help you perfect the fundamentals of quality travel photography in the documentary style. With nightly lectures and slideshows, we work with each student personally, no matter your skill level, to bring your photography skills to the next level of sophistication. With hands-on support from our guides and staff, you will have a team of professionals behind you every step of the way.
For our more advanced attendees, we will create a personalized goal set for your work during the week. This type of assignment based instruction allows for a greater depth for your final portfolio.
For those of you who are newer to photography, we will have hands-on instruction and guided learning experiences. We strive to get your photography to a new level of skill and help you enjoy all the features of your gear you never explored before!
Our customized itinerary also offers exciting group opportunities open only for Momenta attendees. We will show you the real Central Italy many tourists don't get to experience and introduce you a region known the world over for its hospitality and friendliness. Join us today for this wonderful journey through Italy's wine country!
The workshop fees include: your accommodations, in-country travel and meals as indicated on the itinerary, daily one-on-one access to an instructor, personalized portfolio reviews, a customized workshop handbook on travel photography, daily slideshows and lectures, software and equipment training.

Your Guides & Instructors
Leading this trip will be our Director of Workshops and award-winning photojournalist Jamie Rose. With her Italian heritage and experience living in Italy, Jamie helped to craft this custom itinerary based on her own photographic work and exploration of the region as a photographer. Jamie's work has been featured by National Geographic Travel Books, The New York Times Travel section and on the pages of international magazines like Better Homes & Gardens, O Magazine and Kiplinger's. Jamie has completed travel photography projects ranging from the streets of New Orleans to the sandy beaches of Kenya to the lush green hills of Scotland. She is one of our most popular guides and instructors. Jamie excels at taking student's basic photography work on an upward trajectory to success on our travel workshops.
Joining Jamie on this trip is one of our most enthusiastic new instructors, Italian native and Pulitzer Prize nominated photographer Eva Russo. Now a staff photographer for the Richmond Times Dispatch, Eva was born and raised in Italy, moved to France and then settled in the United States. Her amazingly positive energy, fluent Italian and stunning photography make her a wonderful asset for all the attendees on this trip!

Photography & Computer Equipment
We require all attending photographers to bring their own camera kits, laptop and support gear. Our staff and instructors can offer you recommendations on the proper gear to invest in and help you understand the nuances of many types and brands of equipment. We ask that all photographers bring a digital SLR camera with at least 1-2 lenses. We encourage you to bring a flash and a lightweight tripod as well to explore new ways of capturing beautiful imagery. A detailed packing and equipment recommendation list will be provided before the trip's departure to help you plan for your successful image-making experience with us.
