Explore one of the most mysterious and unspoiled destinations in the world with our well-traveled instructors. On our journey, we will witness the peak of the Buddhist Festival season which coincides with the end of Buddhist Lent and the beginning of the Buddhist Festival of Lights. Signifying the end of the rainy season and anniversary of the return of Buddha, the Festival of Lights is a particularly auspicious time to visit Myanmar. During this joyous period, pagodas are teeming with activity, people are doing meritorious deeds and asking for forgiveness or guidance from their spiritual leaders. Most of the pagodas, streets and homes throughout the country are brilliantly illuminated with all matter of lights and there is an air of celebration and release throughout all of Myanmar. Beginning in the old colonial city of Yangon, you will discover a country filled with visually rich culture, busy city streets, vibrant rural markets, awe-inspiring temples, and peaceful countryside monasteries. Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, you will explore shrines, temples, and captivating cultural scenery that will serve as a colorful canvas on which to construct a visual and audio narrative of travel through the region alongside its inhabitants.
Attendees will receive one-on-one editing and hands-on instruction from our experienced workshop staff each day as well as be giving daily shooting "assignments" to hone your strength and overcome any weaknesses. If you are a more intermediate photographer, we will help you craft projects to grow your photography and take your vision to the next level.
Participants may also choose to capture audio to accompany their photo stories, and it is our aim to help ambitious and aspiring photographers transcend the use of their camera as the sole recording device and explore all story-telling potentials in various tools and ideas.
Due to the extremely unique nature of this country, we will only be holding one trip to Myanmar per year. Don't put this off until next year. Final trip registration must take place no less than 30 days prior to departure to ensure time for visa process.
