Lead Instructor Ami Vitale is an international award winning photojournalist who has been published in major international magazines such as National Geographic, Adventure, Newsweek, Time, Smithsonian and Le Figaro, among others. The South Asian Journalists Association presented her with the Daniel Pearl Award for outstanding print reporting on South Asia and she has been awarded numerous grants by organizations like Magnum Photos and the Alexia Foundation among others.

Now based in Washington, DC, Vitale is a contract photographer with National Geographic. She is also is producing a book and exhibit for the Nature Conservancy about threatened environments around the world. Having years of experience as an instructor as well as a commitment to documentary teaching, she has teaming up with Momenta to lead this wonderful workshop.

Our Workshop Director Jamie Rose is so excited about this trip and having Ami Vitale join us, she can't stop talking about it. Call the offices and ask her but be prepared for an earful of excitement!

October is festival season in Peru which makes this trip perfect for our Festival! Workshop series. With the start of bullfighting and cockfighting season, Peru literally explodes with excitement over these events. The workshop culminates as Peru prepares for Halloween or the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) and All Saints Day, the celebration of loved ones lost over the years.

Fireworks, pageantry and carnivals provide the backdrop for skill development and photo narrative training on this exploration of Andean culture. Costumes, processions and candlelight vigils showcase the glories of October in Peru.

Attendees will have daily photo instruction that is tailored to their goals and visions as a photographer. Instructors will develop a set of skill training exercises that will be personally suited for each photographer as they embark on their shooting projects. Students will learn the basic photomechanical process in new, inventive ways while also learning how to construct a narrative photo essay on the enticing activities around festival season.

Momenta proudly welcomes you to come explore this adventure with us and create a travel narrative that will live on your portfolio for years to come!

The workshop fees include all workshop related costs including accommodations, travel and meals (excluding soft drinks, beverages & alcohol) where indicated on the itinerary, daily one-on-one access to an instructor, personalized portfolio reviews, all handouts and workshop materials, daily slideshows and lectures, software and equipment training.
