Anna Rose Layden

Anna Rose Layden is a freelance photojournalist in Washington, D.C. Born on Oahu, Anna documents conflict and change in contemporary American life and politics. She is a haumana of hula and 'olelo Hawai'i in an effort to remain connected to her birthplace and family.

Anna first came to the Momenta Family as a West Award scholarship winner for our Photo Business Skills course in D.C. She immediately impressed our team with her drive and passion for documentary photojournalism. Her skyrocket career growth was of no surprise to us and she continued to wow us with her beautiful coverage daily. Don’t let her age fool you: this outstanding photographer’s portfolio is regularly on the front page of the top teir newspapers around the world.

Primarily covering the White House, Congress, and D.C. news, Anna can be found amid protests, on the floor during congressional hearings, or traveling with President Biden. Outside of politics, she works on stories surrounding family, women, and Hawaiian culture.

Her clients include The New York Times, Reuters, Getty Images, Bloomberg, European Pressphoto Agency, NPR, United Press International, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Wall Street Journal, Politico.

Anna is a member of the Women Photojournalists of Washington, Asian American Journalists Association, and White House News Photographers Association. She graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2021.
