Annie Flanagan
Annie Flanagan is a New Orleans-based photographer, filmmaker, and educator whose work explores themes of memory, gender, environment, and people's relationship to place.
Annie first came to the Momenta Family by winning a grant from the prestigious foundation, The Alexia. They attended the workshop and completed such an impressive multimedia video on a local nonprofit, we decided to invite them to return after graduation as a faculty coach.
Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Annie has spent more than a decade in New Orleans, where they have developed a distinctive visual style that combines intimate portraiture and documentary storytelling.
Select clients include The New York Times, ESPN, National Geographic, Time Magazine, iD, The Guardian, Allure, Vogue, National Geographic, The Players’ Tribune and ACLU.
They received the Robert Giard Grant for Emerging LGBTQ+ Photographers, were a founding artist for WeWomen, and this summer attended their first residency at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
