Her visual work often explores themes of resilience, cultural identity, and collective memory, most notably in her powerful project Our Mind; A Weapon, which has been exhibited widely and supported by organizations such as the Andy Warhol Foundation and Women Photograph. She was a shortlisted finalist for the 2020 Inge Morath Award and a recipient of the 2019–2020 Women Photograph Mentorship Program.

Her recent focus has been working with local businesses that are focused on preserving Puerto Rican agriculture, such as James Beard Award winning restaurant Cocina Al Fondo and Puerto Rico Produce, an application and online supermarket promoting Puerto Rican produce. Her latest personal project is an exhibit focusing on loss, grief, and the yearning / search for the Puerto Rican identity.
In addition to her artistic practice, Gabi has served as a photography instructor with Momenta Workshops on all our Project Puerto Rico workshops, mentoring students on using documentary photography and multimedia creative expression.
